Wiezon appoints 정범진 as second CEO, strengthening its payment expertise

Drawing on years of payment gateway development and operations to match technology to each business and its development resources

정범진 took office in August as the second CEO of Wiezon Co., Ltd. With payment gateway (PG) development and electronic financial business registration consulting at the core, Wiezon is strengthening its payment expertise and continuing to support customers at different stages of their business.

For a customer, payment is the brief moment that completes a purchase. For a business, making that moment possible means bringing payment methods, cancellations and refunds, merchant management, transaction checks and settlement together in one system. As a service grows and its transactions become more varied, the design and operation of its payment systems must evolve too.

Every business needs payments, but not every business needs to become a payment expert. Wiezon's approach is to let customers focus on their business and services, while Wiezon provides the technology behind complex transactions and flows of funds.

Development and operating experience built since 2014

Wiezon has been building and operating payment systems since 2014. Working with the different business models of financial institutions, payment gateway providers and commerce platforms, it has expanded its expertise beyond payment authorization to prepaid payments, settlement for individual merchants and improvements to ongoing operations.

Examples include the development of Kurly's PG, easy-payment and prepaid systems and maintenance of its settlement system, as well as the development of Ohouse's PG and prepaid payment systems. These projects reflect experience in designing systems around each customer's transactions and operating requirements, and implementing the functions their services need in practice.

A payment system's role does not end when development is complete. Adding a payment method or changing settlement rules also requires a review of the impact on existing transactions and operations. Wiezon brings that operating experience into the design of subsequent systems and upgrades.

PG development and registration consulting start with the business model

Companies seeking their own PG system start from different positions. Some want to manage payments for an existing business themselves; others are preparing a new platform or payment business. The scope of the system depends on the business model, transaction structure and flow of funds.

Wiezon examines these differences first, then defines what the IT systems and operations require. For companies preparing electronic financial business registration, it supports a combined review of registration consulting and IT preparation. Considering technology and business readiness together helps establish a payment foundation designed for operations after implementation.

An approach that fits the development team and operating environment

The way a company adopts payment technology should fit its circumstances. A business that needs detailed operating policies built into its systems may require a custom implementation. A company looking to connect specific functions to an existing service, or start managing payments and settlement, has a different set of requirements.

Wiezon is extending its development and operating experience into payment and settlement APIs and cloud services. It is broadening these options so that businesses with their own developers can connect payment functions to existing services through APIs, while those with limited development resources can use the cloud to reduce the need to build a separate management system.

Payment technology for the customer's next stage

Wiezon provides payment technology within GFC Group's payment platform business. Reservations, orders and purchases handled by the group's B2B SaaS and B2C platforms offer a practical context for understanding how payment technology needs to work within day-to-day operations.

Wiezon's goal is to be a technology partner customers can turn to with confidence when building a payment system and as a growing service calls for further change.
